katastrophal

In my first project at KISD in 2021, I have dealt with various questions and facets around the term “catastrophe”. For the eruption of Mount Vesuvius that I chose, I developed my own concept to visually represent the impressions I had gathered.

Empower XR

With her project “Empower XR” in 2024 Paulina Porten adresses the issue of the digital gender gap by promoting young females* in Virtual and Augmented Reality (XR). The project aims to develop creative prototypes to interest girls* and young women* in XR. The shown manual serves as a guide in Workshops organized in this context by Paulina.

intermediate

The powerful image is displacing the abstraction of lettering - at least that is what recent observations seem to suggest. But does the autonomy or dependency of the image prevail?

In my 2023 intermediate I examine this very question, drawing on semiotics. I used the insights I gained to analyze text-based media and also experimented with the use of visual language. In this thesis, I focus on programming languages as text-based media and the power of visual design to draw attention on a topic that is stigmatized as nerdy and insurmountable for many.
